Black swallowtail

At the Chattahoochee Nature Center, I saw lots of butterflies in their special exhibit but, there were also a good number out in the wild.  This black swallowtail was one of the natives that I observed while walking around.  It was a little breezy that day which made it hard to get a sharp image since not only the butterfly was moving but also the plants that it was landing on.  I really love the color and patterns in the lower wings and that signature swallowtail at the end of it!

Photography is my way to capture and share the amazing beauty of God’s handiwork in the people and places that I experience every day. I focus mainly on nature and travel subjects but also do alot of event work for my church and the occasional wedding or portrait session. My residence is Roswell, Georgia – a northern suburb of Atlanta. I try to get around the Southeast as often as possible and would love to explore other parts of the USA and the rest of the world.
