Rainy Day treasure

The Roswell Photographic Society gets special permission to shoot the three big historic homes in Roswell each year.  This weekend, we went to the Smith Plantation Home which is right next to City Hall.  After spending half the morning inside, I took a walk around the grounds and stopped in the garden when I saw this ornamental cabbage.

It was an overcast day with a little rain on and off but the light wasn’t bad by the time I was wrapping up around 12:30.  With the water drops on its leaves, the high-contrast colors and the wonderful textures, it was obvious that I had to stop and capture this image.  Even on a rainy day, there are beautiful images to be had.

Photography is my way to capture and share the amazing beauty of God’s handiwork in the people and places that I experience every day. I focus mainly on nature and travel subjects but also do alot of event work for my church and the occasional wedding or portrait session. My residence is Roswell, Georgia – a northern suburb of Atlanta. I try to get around the Southeast as often as possible and would love to explore other parts of the USA and the rest of the world.
