1853 Petersons Magazine

There are many interesting items sprinkled throughout Bulloch Hall in Roswell, Georgia. I found this bound copy of the 1853 editions of Peterson’s Magazine on one of the shelves.  Peterson’s was a popular American Women’s magazine  started in 1842 by Charles Jacobs Peterson and George Rex Graham, partners in the Saturday Evening Post.

.I made this image because of the texture, lines and contrast of the books against the dark background.  I only wish I had been able to leaf through the contents as it would be very interesting to see what the modern lady of 1853 was concerned about.

Photography is my way to capture and share the amazing beauty of God’s handiwork in the people and places that I experience every day. I focus mainly on nature and travel subjects but also do alot of event work for my church and the occasional wedding or portrait session. My residence is Roswell, Georgia – a northern suburb of Atlanta. I try to get around the Southeast as often as possible and would love to explore other parts of the USA and the rest of the world.
