V8 Power

I’m sure this was a work horse in its day but I can’t imagine how much gas it must have guzzled!

Here’s a case where I used my macro lens for something that might not be considered macro.  I have been playing a lot with the Nikon 105mm Macro lens that I got recently.  It has excellent sharpness and lets you get right on top of subjects to get that life-sized magnification that most lenses won’t do.  I am also finding that it serves well as a sharp and fast prime lens for just about anything.  I had to back up a bit more to get the shot of this V8 emblem on the front of an old Ford pickup but it gave me all the beautiful crusty detail that makes old cars so interesting to look at.

Post-processed with Adobe Lightroom CC and Nik Color Effects Pro 4 to bring out contrast and detail a bit more.

Photography is my way to capture and share the amazing beauty of God’s handiwork in the people and places that I experience every day. I focus mainly on nature and travel subjects but also do alot of event work for my church and the occasional wedding or portrait session. My residence is Roswell, Georgia – a northern suburb of Atlanta. I try to get around the Southeast as often as possible and would love to explore other parts of the USA and the rest of the world.
