After Andrew Michael “Dru” Phillips’ presentation on Cosplay at the  Roswell Photographic Society November meeting, we got to take some shots of the “models” that shared their experience with us.  I got a few good shots in spite of the miserable lighting conditions and then started to play in Photoshop.

We got to see some of the amazing images that Dru has produced and he talked a little about how he used Photoshop as a tool to enhance as opposed to a band-aid to fix poorly executed shots.  I use Lightroom and Photoshop frequently to bring out contrast and color and sometimes to get rid of small distractions.  In this case, I went all out and totally replaced the backgrounds to make it look like these people were truly in locations where you would expect to see the characters they were portraying.

Here are some before and after comparisons:

Photography is my way to capture and share the amazing beauty of God’s handiwork in the people and places that I experience every day. I focus mainly on nature and travel subjects but also do alot of event work for my church and the occasional wedding or portrait session. My residence is Roswell, Georgia – a northern suburb of Atlanta. I try to get around the Southeast as often as possible and would love to explore other parts of the USA and the rest of the world.
