On Tuesday night, the speaker for the Roswell Photographic Society meeting was Andrew Michael Phillips who gave a presentation on COSPLAY.  For those who don’t know what this means, cosplay or “Costume Play” is all about taking on a character from fantasy, science fiction, comics, television, movies or other subjects.  Cosplay usually involves hand-made costumes, make-up and accessories.

While the cosplay community is most obvious at events like Dragon*Con, ComicCon and the like, the group who came to our meeting are also into giving back to the community and regularly appear (as volunteers) at charity events such as the Down Syndrome Buddy Walk.

This was a terrific presentation with lots of interaction with Dru and the cosplayers who were there with him.  We also were able to take a few shots with the group after the talk.

My featured image shows a close-up of one of our guests who caught everyone’s attention with contact lenses that gave her sparkling blue eyes.  I dressed this up a little in Photoshop with a lens-flare effect to draw even more attention to those eyes.

Photography is my way to capture and share the amazing beauty of God’s handiwork in the people and places that I experience every day. I focus mainly on nature and travel subjects but also do alot of event work for my church and the occasional wedding or portrait session. My residence is Roswell, Georgia – a northern suburb of Atlanta. I try to get around the Southeast as often as possible and would love to explore other parts of the USA and the rest of the world.
