The work of Dale Chihuly, internationally renowned glass artist, is currently on display at the Atlanta Botanical Garden. Most of the installations are firmly on the ground or floating in the waters of the numerous ponds and fountains of the gardens. A few, however are suspended high overhead like this one named Trumpet Flower Arbor.
One of the things that make a Chihuly exhibit special is how he and his team install these magnificent pieces of hand-blown glass in a natural setting so that they seem both organic and surreal at the same time. Suggestive of flowers and birds, vines and trees. At other times, they glint with a metallic sheen or glow in neon grandeur. You have to look all around to see everything and every different angle gives off a new scene where the light reflects off of or passes through the glass.
I encourage all who have the opportunity to visit this exhibit and spend some time looking around. Especially remember to look up or you will be missing out!
